Black Sabbath – Iron Man

Has he lost his mind?

Can he see or is he blind?

Can he walk at all,

Or if he moves will he fall?

Is he alive or dead?

Has he thoughts within his head?

We'll just pass him there

why should we even care?

He was turned to steel

in the great magnetic field

Where he travelled time

for the future of mankind

Nobody wants him

He just stares at the world

Planning his vengeance

that he will soon unfold

Now the time is here

for Iron Man to spread fear

Vengeance from the grave

Kills the people he once saved

Nobody wants him

They just turn their heads

Nobody helps him

Now he has his revenge

Heavy boots of lead

fills his victims full of dread

Running as fast as they can

Iron Man lives again!

Guardian Angel by Rolf Jacobson.

I am the bird that knocks at your window in the morning, and your companion whom you cannot know, the blossoms that light up the blind. I am the glaciers' crest above the forest, the dazzling one, and the brass voices from cathedral towers. The thought that suddenly comes over you at midday and fills you with singular happiness. I am the one you loved long ago. I walk along side you by day and look intently at you, and put my mouth on your heart but you don't know it. I am your third arm and your second shadow, the white one, whom you don't have the heart for, and who cannot ever forget you.

Black Sabbath – War Pigs

Generals gathered in their masses,

just like witches at black masses.

Evil minds that plot destruction,

sorcerers of death's construction.

In the fields the bodies burning,

as the war machine keeps turning.

Death and hatred to mankind,

poisoning their brainwashed minds.

Oh lord, yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away.

They only started the war.

Why should they go out to fight?

They leave that role to the poor, yeah.

Time will tell on their power minds,

making war just for fun.

Treating people just like pawns in chess,

wait till their judgement day comes, yeah.

Now in darkness world stops turning,

ashes where the bodies burning.

No more War Pigs have the power,

Hand of God has struck the hour.

Day of judgement, God is calling,

on their knees the war pigs crawling.

Begging mercies for their sins,

Satan, laughing, spreads his wings.

Oh lord, yeah!

Black Sabbath - After Forever lyrics

Have you ever thought about your soul - can it be saved?
Or perhaps you think that when you're dead you just stay in your grave
Is God just a thought within your head or is He a part of you?
Is Christ just a name that you read in a book when you were in school?
When you think about death do you lose your breath
Or do you keep your cool?
Would you like to see the Pope on the end of a rope
Do you think he's a fool?
Well I have seen the truth, yes I've seen the light
And I've changed my ways
And I'll be prepared when you're lonely and scared
At the end of our days
Could it be you're afraid of what your friends might say
If they knew you believe in God above?
They should realize before they criticize
That God is the only way to love
Is your mind so small that you have to fall
In with the pack wherever they run
Will you still sneer when death is near
And say they may as well worship the sun?
I think it was true it was people like you that crucified Christ
I think it is sad the opinion you had was the only one voiced
Will you be so sure when your day is near, say you don't believe?
You had the chance but you turned it down, now you can't retrieve
Perhaps you'll think before you say that God is dead and gone
Open your eyes, just realize that he's the one
The only one who can save you now from all this sin and hate
Or will you still jeer at all you hear?
Yes! I think it's too late.

Ozzy Osbourne - Rock 'N Roll Rebel lyrics

They couldn't see what I thought
Would be so obvious
They hid behind the laws they made for all of us
The ministry of truth that deals with pretense
The ministry of peace that sits on defense
I'm washing my hands of what
They're trying to do
It's for me, it's for me,
It's for you, it's for you
Chorus:
I'm just a rock 'n roll rebel
I'll tell you no lies
They say I worship the devil
They must be stupid or blind
I'm just a rock 'n roll rebel
They live a life of fear and insecurity
And all you do is pray for their prosperity
The ministry of fear that won't let you live
The ministry of grace that doesn't forgive
Do what you will to try and
Make me conform
I'll make you wish that
You had never been born
Chorus:
Cause I'm a rock 'n roll rebel
I'll do what I please
Yes I'm a rock 'n roll rebel
And I'm as free as the breeze
I'm just a rock 'n roll rebel
They'll try playin' with your heart
They know it rules your head
If they could read between the lines
You know they'd see the real day
God only knows why they
Couldn't see the obvious
Is it because they manifest the incubus
The ministry of war that got caught in the draft
The ministry of joy that still hasn't laughed
When it's all boiled down
And the day's at an end
I'll give you no bullshit
And I'll never pretend
Chorus:
Cause I'm a rock 'n roll rebel
I'll tell you no lies
They say I worship the devil
Why don't they open their eyes
I'm just a rock 'n roll rebel
A rock 'n roll rebel
I'm just a rock 'n roll rebel

Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell (Live)

I hate that I didn't get to see this show, but I just got the DVD today and can't wait to watch it. Too bad Mike isn't here to see it with me & Pat. I wish I had a video of Pat singing War Pigs when he came back from Texas in 1980 or 1981. That was hilarious!

An astronaut brings home a glowing green orb for his daughter. However, the orb kills him and corners the girl for its purposes. Claiming to the embodiment of all evil, the malevolent sphere, known as the Loc-Nar, terrorizes the little girl by showing a series of bizarre and fantastic tales it has influenced. The first is "Harry Canyon," a cynical taxi driver in a squalid futuristic New York who finds himself involved with a damsel in distress who is relentlessly pursued by murderous thugs who desire the Loc-Nar her archaeologist father found. The second is "Den" which chronicles the adventures of a nerdish boy who is thrown into the fantasy world of Neverwhere, where he is transformed into a studly naked muscle-man, desired by beautiful women, who must get involved in a conflict revolving around possession of the Loc-Nar. The third is "Captain Sternn" where the title character is a handsome but irredeemable scoundrel who stands accused in a trial that Loc-Nar throws into chaos. The fourth is "B-17", where a World War II bomber plane limps home after a bombing run, only to have the Loc-Nar ram into it and revive the dead crew members as murderous zombies. The next is "So Beautiful, So Dangerous" where a buxom secretary at the Pentagon is abducted by stoned alien wastrels and a oversexed robot. The final story is "Taarna", where the Loc-Nar has to come to a future Earth and changes a peaceful people into a horde of murderous barbarians who rampage with genocidal zeal. Only the last Tarackian, a silent swords-woman known as Taarna, can avenge the victims and stop the Loc-Nar.

Windows Vista Team Blog : Non-security update rolls out Tuesday

So far I've not had any problems with any of the Vista updates I'll apply these when I get home today thought I don't understand the part about these being a "prerequisites for Windows Vista SP1" when I already have SP1.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 8 January, we are releasing several non-security update packages via Windows Update.  The updates include the regular monthly Malicious Software Removal Tool and Windows Mail Junk Mail Filter, two updates in our regular series of Windows Vista updates (KB943302 for application compatibility and KB943899 for reliability and performance), and one update of particular notice: KB935509.  Similar to previous updates that enhanced Windows Vista’s performance and reliability, these updates will be distributed automatically through Windows Update.

Tomorrow’s KB935509 release is a little different than past updates.  It is a prerequisite for installing SP1 and is applicable only for Windows Vista Ultimate and Enterprise users, because it only affects versions of Windows Vista supporting BitLocker Drive Encryption.

This update modifies the boot loader to enable successful install or uninstall of the service pack if the PC uses BitLocker encryption.  We’re releasing it now to lay the groundwork for future updates and to eliminate any extra reboots by installing it along with updates that already require a reboot.  For more information on the update, see KB article KB935509 (which will be posted on Tuesday morning).

In addition to KB985509, there are two other updates that will be prerequisites for Windows Vista SP1, for all versions of Windows Vista.  They will be released at a later date and will improve the installation experience and reliability for the service pack as well as for individual update packages.

SP1 development and testing efforts are continuing as expected and we remain on track for its release later this quarter.

Harry Potter

This is from the latest movie, I just finished watching it . I've got to read these books one day. So will there be another one with the same actors? The special effects just keep getting better. The wizard battle at the end was superb!

The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (40th Anniversary)

I'm sitting here with headphones giving this a listen. It has got to be the cleanest version of these songs I have ever heard! I found a review that sums this release up pretty good. I'm loving every single note. I've listened to this album for 28 years now and I'll never get tired of it.

EMI Records managed to miss marking the 40th anniversary of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's album, but they just about made up for it with this triple-CD set, packaged in a handsome hardcover book format. It offers fans of the early Pink Floyd a chance to do something for the first time in the CD era (and for the first time since the year 1967) -- immerse themselves, up to the neck at least (if not quite to the top of the head) in the Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd sound. EMI pulled out all the stops with this triple-disc set commemorating the 40th anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd's debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, containing the stereo and mono mixes of the album on two separate digital platters, and augmenting them with a bonus CD containing the band's three early singles, plus two previously unreleased alternate takes (an "alternative version" of "Matilda Mother" and "Take 6" of "Interstellar Overdrive"). A more modestly packaged and priced double-CD set, containing just the mono and stereo album mixes, was also released, intended to satisfy the more budget-conscious fans out there, but the fact is that anyone who cares about early Pink Floyd, or who would be interested in hearing the two different mixes of Piper, is precisely the kind of listener who would want the third disc -- apart from presence of the rarities and the single-only sides (five songs that are as good as anything on Piper), the triple-disc includes a replication of Syd Barrett's collage artwork from 1965. This is a wonderful feature that almost makes up for the lack of liner notes outside of photos and lyrics; perhaps the story of The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is well known to the collectors who would invest in this triple-disc set, but a deluxe edition such as this cries out for historical notes. Nevertheless, this is a very nice set and it would be worthwhile if it simply reissued the music, for this is an album that truly does warrant close examinations of the mono and stereo mixes, as they are subtly but notably different from each other -- the balances of instruments are very different on some of the songs, and it seems as though some ideas that were tried for the mono mix (which, naturally, came first) on particular songs were abandoned for the stereo mix, while other ideas for the sound were, of course, unique to the stereo version. Additionally, the five songs released on singles by the group that year, "Arnold Layne," "Candy and a Currant Bun," "See Emily Play," "Apples and Oranges," and "Paintbox," were all superb pieces of psychedelic pop, funny and cutting lyrically with lots of layers, in their music as well as their meanings, to be enjoyed and savored (a sixth song, "The Scarecrow," came from the album); and while the French edit of "Interstellar Overdrive" and a stereo mix of "Apples and Oranges," may sound like we're getting into outre minutiae, along with the two alternate takes they're all distinctly different from the established versions. The assembling of all of this material in one place -- which, astonishingly, has never been done before -- allows us the most thorough overview yet achieved of the group's surviving work from 1967, which also represented the peak of Syd Barrett's tenure with the band. He would become a less substantial and sustained, more erratic presence from then on until his departure in 1968. And while even this set isn't complete in that regard -- the makers would have had to license the Peter Whitehead-recorded pre-EMI Pink Floyd recordings done in connection with the director's Tonite Let's All Make Love in London, and searched out more outtakes (of which none apparently survive), as well as including "Remember a Day," which was recorded at the Piper sessions but not released until a year later -- it is the most concentrated and intensive look ever given at this glorious and all-too-brief period in the band's history. For those listeners who recognize that importance, this is a necessary reissue -- and for those who don't, and need to discover the early Floyd and what they were about, it's every bit as essential. Indeed, for that group of listeners, it's a revelation-in-the-making. ~ Bruce Eder & Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
