With Outlook 2003 that's on our laptops I have found a very helpful option. Push F1 to open the help bar then change it to research. When reading or typing an email, double click on a word and the dictionary & thesaurus results for that word are automatically displayed in the research pane. See the attached screen capture for an example. You can also hi-lite a word and select research from the tools menu but that way double-clicking on a word does not work and the research pane does not stay in place.
