Live - Where Do We Go From Here? (Lyrics)

I wanted a mountain, you gave me a sea
I wanted a hurricane, you gave me a breeze
I wanted to run, made me stand there and breathe
I wanted to dream, you made me sleep
I wanted to touch the bottom, but it was too deep
I wanted a revolution, you said I was already free
Oh, yeah

Where do we go from here?
Now the day is gone
How do we face our fears
With nothing in our hearts, baby?
Where do we go from here?
Now the night has come

I wanted to touch your mind and your heart
I wanted to find a new place to start
I wanted to kiss your every part
Oh, yeah

So baby, don't leave me now as you turn to the flag
They get shot through the holes, but you're still alive
Like you're too close to death to ever really die
Oh, yeah

Where do we go from here?
Now the day is gone
How do we face our fears
With nothing in our hearts, baby?
Where do we go from here?
Now the night has come
How do we face our fears
With nothing in our hearts?
Nothing

Why won't you listen to me?
I never meant you no harm
I only wanted to be free
All I want is to be free

Where do we go from here?
Now the day is gone
How do we face our fears
With nothing in our hearts, baby?
Where do we go from here?
Now the night has come
How do we face our fears?
Oh, yeah

Where do we go?
Where do we go?
Where do we go?

Where do we go?
Where do we go?
Where do we go?

Live - Selling The Drama (Lyrics)

and to love: a god
and to fear: a flame
and to burn a crown that has a name
and to right or wrong
and to meek or strong
it is known, just scream it from the wall

i've willed, i've walked, i've read
i've talked, i know, i know,
i've been here before

hey, now we won't be reaped
hey, now we won't be scarred like that

it's the sun that burns
it's the wheel that turns
it's the way we sing that makes 'em dream

and to christ: a cross
and to me: a chair
i will sit and earn the ransom
from up here

i've willed, i've walked, i've read
i've talked, i know, i know,
i've been here before

hey, now we won't be reaped
hey, now we won't be scarred like that
hey, now we won't be reaped
hey, now we won't be scarred like that
scarred like that

and to love: a god
and to fear: a flame
and to burn a love that has a name

i've willed, i've walked, i've read
i've talked, i know, i know,
i've been here before

hey, now we won't be reaped
hey, now we won't be scarred like that
hey, now we won't be reaped

Live - The Dolphins Cry (Lyrics)

The way you're bathed in light
Reminds me of that night
God laid me down into your rose garden of trust
And I was swept away
With nothin' left to say
Some helpless fool
Yeah I was lost in a swoon of peace
You're all I need to find
So when the time is right
Come to me sweetly, come to me
Come to me

Love will lead us, alright
Love will lead us, she will lead us
Can you hear the dolphin's cry?
See the road rise up to meet us
It's in the air we breathe tonight
Love will lead us, she will lead us

Oh yeah, we meet again
It's like we never left
Time in between was just a dream
Did we leave this place?
This crazy fog surrounds me
You wrap your legs around me
All I can do to try and breathe
Let me breathe so that I
So we can go together!

Love will lead us, alright
Love will lead us, she will lead us
Can you hear the dolphin's cry?
See the road rise up to meet us
It's in the air we breathe tonight
Love will lead us, she will lead us

Life is like a shooting star
It don't matter who you are
If you only run for cover, it's just a waste of time
We are lost 'til we are found
This phoenix rises up from the ground
And all these wars are over

Over
Over
La da da, da da da
Over
Come to me
Come to me
La da da da, da da da
Come to me

Love will lead us, alright
Love will lead us, she will lead us
Can you hear the dolphin's cry?
See the road rise up to meet us
It's in the air we breathe tonight
Love will lead us, she will lead us

Life is like a shooting star
It don't matter who you are
If you only run for cover, it's just a waste of time
We are lost 'til we are found
This phoenix rises up from the ground
And all these wars are over

Over
Over
Over
Over

Love will lead us, alright
Love will lead us, she will lead us
Can you hear the dolphin's cry?
See the road rise up to meet us
It's in the air we breathe tonight
Love will lead us, she will lead us

Love will lead us, alright (oh yeah)
Love will lead us, she will lead us
Love will lead us, alright

Finger Eleven - One Thing (Lyrics)

Restless tonight
Cause I wasted the light
Between both these times
I drew a really thin line
Its nothing I planned
And not that I can
But you should be mine
Across that line

If I traded it all
If I gave it all away for one thing
Just for one thing
If I sorted it out
If I knew all about this one thing
Wouldnt that be something

I promise I might
Not walk on by
Maybe next time
But not this time

Even though I know
I dont wanna know
Yeah I guess I know
I just hate how it sounds

If I traded it all
If I gave it all away for one thing
Just for one thing
If I sorted it out
If I knew all about this one thing
Wouldnt that be something

If I traded it all
If I gave it all away for one thing
Just for one thing
If I sorted it out
If I knew all about this one thing
Wouldnt that be something

Even though I know
I dont wanna know
Yeah I guess I know
I just hate how it sounds

Even though I know
I dont wanna know
Yeah I guess I know
I just hate how it sounds

If I traded it all
If I gave it all away for one thing
Just for one thing
If I sorted it out
If I knew all about this one thing
Wouldnt that be something

If I traded it all
If I gave it all away for one thing
Just for one thing
If I sorted it out
If I knew all about this one thing
Wouldnt that be something

If I traded it all
If I gave it all away for one thing
Just for one thing
If I sorted it out
If I knew all about this one thing
Wouldnt that be something

If I traded it all
If I gave it all away for one thing
Just for one thing
If I sorted it out
If I knew all about this one thing
Wouldnt that be something
Wouldn't that be something

Lifehouse - Hanging By A Moment (Lyrics)

Desperate for changing
Starving for truth
I'm closer to where Ive started
Chasing after you

I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you

Forgetting all I'm lacking
Completely incomplete
I'll take your invitation
You take all of me

Now.. I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you

I'm living for the only thing I know
I'm running and not quite sure where to go
And I don't know what I'm diving into
Just hanging by a moment here with you

There's nothing else to lose
There's nothing else to find
There's nothing in the world
That could change my mind
There is nothing else
There is nothing else
There is nothing else

Desperate for changing
Starving for truth
Closer to where Ive started
Chasing after you

I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you

I'm living for the only thing i know
I'm running and not quite sure where to go
And I don't know what I'm diving into
Just hanging by a moment here with you

Just hanging by a moment
(here with you)
Hanging by a moment
(here with you)
Hanging by a moment...
(here with you)
Hanging by a moment here with you...

Georgia targets bath salts used as drug

Examples of fake "bath salts" are displayed by Senate Drug Policy Committee chairman Sid Albritton, R-Picayune, at the Capitol in Jackson, Miss. The salts contain toxic chemicals that some people snort, smoke or huff to get a hallucinogenic high, and lawmakers are talking about banning them. (AP Photo/Rogelio V. Solis)

Enlarge photo

Georgia lawmakers are moving quickly to ban a legal synthetic drug that is sold as bath salts and which police say is potentially deadly.

Ivory Wave, Cloud Nine and Red Dove are just a few of the names for the bath salts, which can cause a user to hallucinate for days after snorting, huffing or injecting them. They are available in some stores and on the Internet and cost about $20 per packet.

"Because it is legal, we have a lot of kids who think it's safe," said state Rep. Jay Neal, R-LaFayette. He said he plans to introduce legislation today to ban the ingredients used in the bath salts.

The powdery packets are a hot topic in statehouses and media outlets across the country, and there have been several cases of emergency room trips and a few deaths related to the use of the substance.

Lawmakers in Georgia and several neighboring states -- but not Tennessee -- have filed or plan to introduce bills to ban the suspect bath salts.

While local police say they haven't seen the drug sold in Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia, the salts are sold in head shops and some convenience stores in Atlanta.

"As of right now, we can say that it's not showing up on our doorsteps, but that's not to say it's not here," said Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Lt. Van Hinton.

When drug trends reach Atlanta, it's usually just a matter of time before they extend into the Chattanooga region, police say.

The issue came to light in early January, when Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal issued an emergency rule to outlaw the product. Louisiana's poison control center received more than 125 calls in the last three months of 2010 involving the chemicals, The Associated Press reported.

"We need to address it very quickly," said Officer Michael Gardner, with the Marietta Police Department near Atlanta. "I've seen people extremely geeked out on meth ... but I've never seen the effects last this long."

The hallucination is much stronger than LSD or Ecstasy, said Gardner, who first witnessed a patient hospitalized from the drug in November. The patient hallucinated for three days and was extremely paranoid, even asking the security guards watching him if they had stolen his beer, Gardner said.

When the patient finally woke up, he was physically exhausted and couldn't remember anything, Gardner said.

The bath salts are made with at least seven to nine chemicals that don't show up in a typical drug test, said Dr. Gaylord Lopez, director of the Georgia Poison Control Center. A similar synthetic drug is advertised as plant fertilizer in other countries, he said.

Because the chemicals are made with different ingredients and the potency varies, users quickly can overdose with effects similar to methamphetamine, Gardner said.

Neal said lawmakers see no option but to make the ingredients a Schedule I controlled substance, regulating the salts the same as other serious drugs including heroin and cocaine, Neal said.

While local police say they haven't seen the bath salts sold in any local stores, they support legislation that could nip the problem in the bud.

"It's something police are aware of but haven't seen yet," said Dalton Police Lt. Chris Crossen.

"It should be banned," Hinton said. "If there's no medical use for a drug substance, then there's no reason to have it."

How To Enable IPv6 On Windows XP

Most ISPs are in the process of enabling the IPv6 protocol which is then available for usage in addition to the currently used IPv4 protocol. Windows Vista and Windows 7 users do not need to enable or configure their operating system for IPv6 usage as it is enabled by default. The situation is different for Windows XP users who need to install the IPv6 protocol to add support for it to the operating system.

It is probably a good idea to test if IPv6 is already available on the operating system. An easy option to find out is the ipconfig command which displays network information in a command line window. To run the command press Windows-R, type cmd and hit enter. This opens the Windows command prompt. Now use the command ipconfig to find out if IPv6 is available on the computer. Please note that the following screenshot is showing ipconfig on Windows 7.

ipv6 protocol

If you do not see an entry IPv6 Address in the listing it is not enabled and needs to be installed. The easiest way to install the IPv6 protocol under Windows XP is from the command prompt. Enter the following commands separately and press return after each of them:

  • netsh

  • interface

  • ipv6

  • install

This installs IPv6 under Windows XP. It is also possible to install the protocol under the network settings options of the Control Panel. Right-click on the appropriate network adapter and select Preferences from the selection. Now select Install on the screen and then Protocol from the available options. Locate Microsoft TCP/IP Version 6, a click on OK installs the selected protocol.

install ipv6 windows xp

1. Open Network Connections
2. Right-click any local area connection, and then click Properties.
3. Click Install.
4. In the Select Network Component Type dialog box, click Protocol, and then click Add.
5. In the Select Network Protocol dialog box, click Microsoft TCP/IP version 6, and then click OK.
6. Click Close to save changes to your network connection.

You can check again with the ipconfig command to make sure that the IPv6 protocol was installed successfully on the operating system.

World’s Most Powerful X-Ray Laser Illuminates Hidden Protein Wor ld

World’s Most Powerful X-Ray Laser Illuminates Hidden Protein World

via Wired: Wired Science by Danielle Venton on 2/3/11

In brilliant bursts of light from the world’s most powerful X-ray laser, physicists have taken snapshots of living viruses and see the 3-D shape of proteins frozen in nanometer-scale crystals.

The technique is described Feb. 3 in two Nature papers, and the images are the first biological subjects to be captured by bouncing X-rays off single particles.

“This really lets us see things that were invisible before,” said study co-author Marvin Seibert, a Stanford University physicist. “The most important thing is that scientists will be able to solve the structures of new biological molecules.”

To get a picture of a protein, researchers typically grow it in large crystals. For some proteins — especially those that span a cell’s membrane — this is difficult, even impossible. About 30,000 membrane proteins are found in the human body, but scientists know the shape of only six.

“Growing one of these crystals can be worth a Nobel,” Seibert said.

To make images with an X-ray laser, researchers sprayed viruses or individual proteins, frozen into crystals, into the path of an extremely powerful X-ray beam. According to the researchers, it was a billion times brighter than previous X-ray sources. The beam’s pulses lasted for quadrillionths of a second, scattering from the subject’s surface in the instant before it vaporized.

A camera recorded the scattering patterns, from which the subject’s shape could be reconstructed. From the combination of thousands of snapshots, three-dimensional images emerged. (To make the mandala-like image above, of a protein used in photosynthesis, the researchers took three million snapshots and combined the best 10,000.)

Now that researchers photograph single proteins, they have a shortcut to learning their shape, and thus to understanding how they work. Most drugs and diseases target these membrane proteins, so knowing their shape is important.

For the second study, researchers sprayed individual, unfrozen viruses into the X-ray beam, hoping to see their living shape. The subject was Mimivirus (see below), the largest known virus, so immense it’s infected by other viruses.

In other, more detailed, images the physicists could see a dark region they believe to be the genetic material. In an experiment ongoing now, using X-rays four times more powerful than those in the new study, the researchers are trying to capture the viral genome in 3-D.

If it works, they might be able to see how one virus differs from another, and how they develop over time.

“It’s very hot work,” said Seibert, “And it is happening literally right now.”

RUSH: Moving Pictures in Surround

RUSH: Moving Pictures in Surround

by admin on Feb.04, 2011, under news

Ok, so the word is out. I’ve been in the studio for last month remixing the original Moving Pictures CD in 5.1 surround. I finished tweaks on Red Barchetta yesterday. It really was an amazing experience to spread the original tracks of such a classic CD into the 3D word of surround. (The car speeds off, goes behind and banks a sharp right in rear BTW). The listening experience is drastically enveloping and coupled with songs and performances that epitomize this band, it’s definitely a great time to re-discover Rush.

After discussion with the band, the goal here was to pay serious homage to the production of the era so a considerable amount of time was spent researching and working through effects etc. that matched the original but would fare well in the 5.1 world. And of course, placement was also a critical issue. I’m pleased with the results and Alex Lifeson was pretty blown away when he came in to listen to the finals.

So enjoy and more to come shortly!

"The theme for our next collaboration seemed obvious: live performance, preparing for it and surviving it. In early 2010 we began collecting material...In April, 2010, the Hudson Music crew joined me at Drum Channel in Oxnard, California, and filmed several days of my rehearsals for the Time Machine tour. In July they filmed an entire Rush show, in Saratoga Springs, New York, with supplementary 'drum-cams' on me. They also captured the soundcheck and pre-show warmup, when I did a bit of talking to the camera, as I had during the Drum Channel filming in April. However, we would need to shoot some more 'talkie bits' to go before each of the songs from the live show, explaining about special problems or challenges in a particular song, and technical highlights. So, I thought, why not go somewhere really nice to shoot those?...I suggested Death Valley. Being the driest place in North America, averaging less than two inches of rain a year-and sometimes none-the chances of clear weather were good." - Neil Peart, NeilPeart.net, February 4, 2011

Rush - Moving Pictures in 5.1 Surround Sound

Rush Moving Pictures

We've known for some time now that Rush's back-catalog of albums under Universal (formerly under Mercury Records - 1974 through 1987) were going to be part of a major reissue campaign sometime in 2011 (though an exact release date(s) are still pending). Not much is known about the nature of this reissue, however speculation about a potential remix in 5.1 Surround sound was thought to be a possibility.

We've just learned from a posting from Richard Chycki's blog that Rush'sMoving Pictures will definitely get the 5.1 Surround Sound treatment:
Ok, so the word is out. I've been in the studio for last month remixing the original Moving Pictures CD in 5.1 surround. I finished tweaks on Red Barchetta yesterday. It really was an amazing experience to spread the original tracks of such a classic CD into the 3D word of surround. (The car speeds off, goes behind and banks a sharp right in rear BTW). The listening experience is drastically enveloping and coupled with songs and performances that epitomize this band, it's definitely a great time to re-discover Rush.

After discussion with the band, the goal here was to pay serious homage to the production of the era so a considerable amount of time was spent researching and working through effects etc. that matched the original but would fare well in the 5.1 world. And of course, placement was also a critical issue. I'm pleased with the results and Alex Lifeson was pretty blown away when he came in to listen to the finals.

So enjoy and more to come shortly!

Sounds pretty exciting! Hopefully we'll get word from Richard and/ or the band about any potential plans to treat the rest of Rush's back-catalog to a 5.1 remix.

The Most Stunningly Spectral Light Paintings You'll Ever See Photography

The Most Stunningly Spectral Light Paintings You'll Ever See

The Most Stunningly Spectral Light Paintings You'll Ever SeeIt's official; this blizzaster we're stuck with has ushered in an age of glowing, fire-ringed skeletons that will send us to our maker. Either that or someone is very, very good at light painting.

Okay! Quick research shows that it's the latter. The above work—entitled Invocation For an Ice Age, which is the last thing we need right now thank you—comes from the Sony A200 of the impossibly talented Janne Parviainen. We've seen Parviainen's work before, but this series of skeletal portraits deserves special mention.

I love bug pictures.

The ant is one of the most inspiring creatures. Both super strong and excelling at teamwork, ants can do amazing things. (Check out this Crazy Awesome Ant Colony Time-Lapse, for instance). On top of that, they’re also photogenic.
