Over the last several years, Alex Lifeson has donated some of his original artwork to the Kidney Foundation of Canada's A Brush of Hope charity project. Lifeson's paintings, along with others from some of Canada's celebrities, are then auctioned off for the cause. Last year, Alex's painting sold for $7,000 - and his previous paintings have done equally well.
Now, Alex and the Kidney Foundation are making 250 limited-edition signed prints of one of Alex's paintings available to the public. From the foundation's website:
Rush Guitarist, Alex Lifeson, is a music legend. He is also an incredible visual artist. This is a rare opportunity to own one of his paintings at a very reasonable cost. Alex's original paintings regularly sell for thousands of dollars. He has been a regular contributor of original art to The Kidney Foundation of Canada's, "A Brush of Hope" project, where he receives hundreds of bids on his work.
Now, the Kidney Foundation and Alex have teamed up to produce this limited edition set of prints. Only 250 prints have been made. Each print is numbered and Alex Lifeson has personally signed each individual print. That's right, each print has Alex Lifeson's ORIGINAL signature on it. The print is on high quality, heavy stock. In addition, each print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by the Executive Director of the Atlantic Canada Branch of The Kidney Foundation of Canada, confirming that the print that you have purchased is one of only 250. The certificate also shows the print number (eg. Print No. 33 Limited Edition of 250). The certificate is printed on linen paper, making it ideal for framing with the art print or for displaying on its own.
This particular painting/print was auctioned off by the foundation back in 2007. The prints are selling for $270 CAD to $300 CAD, depending on your location.
